This series comprises material from general business conventions of the Women's Missionary Federation (WMF) of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960) (ALC) from 1932-1958. Except for the constituting convention held in 1931, conventions were held biennially beginning in 1932. Materials included in this series were generated for use by delegates to the convention and also as a record of business matters considered and acted upon at the convention. Records in this series comprise primarily convention programs and convention minutes. Convention programs contain the schedule of events as well as departmental reports. Convention minutes record the proceedings, reports presented, recommendations presented, election results, and resolutions considered and carried. This series contains no convention records for 1931, 1940, 1944, and 1954. Not every year contains both a convention program and convention minutes. 1938, 1942, 1946, 1948, 1950, 1952, 1956, 1958 have no convention minutes. Records are arranged chronologically.

The ALC met as a delegate body biennially in October, the time and place of which was determined by the president and Board of Trustees. All boards and standing committees sent their reports to the president at least sixty days before the convention, so that he could have them printed and sent to the delegates twenty days before the biennial meeting.
